Bruising:
Bruising can result in the elderly very easily and with minimum trauma. Although bruises may
occur accidentally by simply assisting an elderly resident with a transfer from a bed to a
chair, any bruises found on a loved ones body should always be questioned.
More often than
not, bruises appear due to the rough handling of an elderly resident, intentional striking,
or due to a fall. Clearly, any bruise or cut as a result should be indicated to the proper
medical staff and family members for immediate attention and evaluation as to its cause.
